Note: The Web Installer will not install MS SQL Server if you are running MS SQL 2005 or earlier.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Open a browser and navigate to: http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download/&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Runtime with Advanced Services &amp;#039;Install&amp;#039; button.&lt;br /&gt;

If you have not yet used the Microsoft Web installer you will be redirected to the following page:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Click on the green button labeled &amp;#039;Get the Microsoft Web Platform.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Answer &amp;#039;Run&amp;#039; to the various prompts and you will be presented with the following screen.&lt;br /&gt;

Click &amp;#039;Install&amp;#039;. The following screen will open.&lt;br /&gt;

Leave the &amp;#039;SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services&amp;#039; checked and click &amp;#039;I Accept&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

You will be presented with the Authentication mode screen.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Leave the authentcation mode as &amp;#039;Mixed Mode&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Enter a password. The password must be a &amp;#039;Strong&amp;#039; password continaing a mix of Capiatl letters, numbers, and special characters like, @#$%.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Click &amp;#039;Continue&amp;#039;. Windows Powershell will begin installing.&lt;br /&gt;

When the Windows Powershell is finished installing you will need to reboot your computer:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Click &amp;#039;Yes&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When your system restarts the installation will automatically continue.&lt;br /&gt;

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 will begin its installation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

When the install is finalizing you will see this message.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

When the installation is complete you will see the Congratulations screen.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
MS SQL 2008 is now installed:&lt;br /&gt;

Click &amp;#039;Exit&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

You will now have the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Program group in your start menu.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;The next step is to configure MS SQL Server 2008 for remote connections.&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

Expand the SQL program group and select the &amp;#039;SQL Server Configuration Manager&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

When the &amp;#039;SQL Server Configuration Manager&amp;#039; opens you will need to make the following changes:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Turn on the FTS (Full-text Filter Search) service. Expand the services by clicking on the SQL Server Services in the left column.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Right click on the SQL Full-test Filter service and select Properties.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Select the Service Tab.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Click on Start Mode and in the right drop down select &amp;#039;Automatic&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Click &amp;#039;Ok&amp;#039;. When the change is saved right click on the service and select &amp;#039;Start&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
